INFORMATION ABOUT SPAIN (Spanish: Reino de España):

Capital: Madrid
Official language: Spanish

The second largest country in Europe, Spain’s influence is found everywhere, where the famous Spanish conquistadors, traveling on their galleons, spread Catholicism, the Spanish language, and Spanish culture to every corner of the world. Now what would it be like to visit the heart of Spanish culture?

A perfect stop to understand what’s in store would be the capital of Madrid itself. Here in the Spanish museums of Prado, Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, you’ll find the largest collections of paintings and other works of arts than in any other place in the world. Other attractions include the Royal Opera House (known as Teatro Real), whose construction was ordered by Queen Isabel II, and the churches of San Andrés and San Pedro, which give a historic view of old Spain. Or, if you’re the type who likes excitement, then gear up for a wild show when you watch one of the Tauromachy matches, and see colorfully dressed matadors take on massive bulls.

Now that’s just Madrid. Spain is also known for its many regions of hilly grasslands and forests, where biking tours and the like are popular with the thousands of tourists that visit Spain every year. And again, for those who love adrenaline-rushes, they should visit Pamplona, for that annual festival where the participants are chased through the streets by a herd of angry bulls known as the “San Fermín Running of the Bulls”.

You could visit Andalusia where the Moors of old used to reign in power. There, you can see examples of Moorish architecture and culture such as the Alhmabra in Granada, which is a fortress over looking the city that represents the finest in Muslim architecture, filled with arches, pools, and intricate support columns and carvings.
For those looking for a little R & R, a trip to Spain’s sunny Costa del Sol in the South. And while you’re at it, why no drive by and visit some of the grape-growing regions of Spain and sample wine at the local breweries?

All in all, Spain is a perfect travel destination for those who just want to get away from it all and do some sight-seeing, while practicing their Spanish skills. Spain is a great place to travel to, with a wide variety of attractions for everyone type of person, whether you’re artistically intimate or just a lazy bum who needs rest and relaxation.
