Camping Vranja reviews (2):

Claire blandford (2011-08-22): A really poor standard of camp site with no facilities, shower/toilet the worst we have seen in 4 months of European camping and while the lady was exceptionally helpful the man was exceptionally rude. A shame as the setting is lovely with woods and a river but over priced and almost impossible to find.

Sander van Veen (2010-09-05): Visit: 29 Aug - 1 Sep 2010
Overall a terrible camping, they claim to have three stars, but these are maybe given in the '50's.

Location:
The camping is located next to bul. Tsarigradsko Shose, perhaps the most busy road of Sofia, day and night. To find the camping is impossible, because there are no signals, nobody speaks english and when you manage to ask in Bulgarian, the people don't know it. Also in the middle of an industrial park, next to the Samsung distribution centre. The closest stop for the underground is about 5 km away.

The camping:
No public showers or toilets, so if you are lucky there is an empty bungalow you are allowed to use for sanitair. All material dates from 1945 and is in a very bad state. The camping area(grass/garden) also had no maintenance since 30 years. the camping also has unexpected guests in the evening from wild dogs, so watch out with your food etc. as said before the noise of the road is going on 24/7. When entering the camping you see a big sign - Restaurant - Camping - but the closest restaurant is the gas station 1,5km down the road. also no stores nearby.

Hosts:
i can say two good things, when you arrive they are very friendly(but wait until day 3) and the woman speaks German. What about day 3, that is apparently the pay-day. every three days. but when entering the camping nobody can tell you the price a night and after 3 days it appears to be 26 levas a night(13 euro's). This is in Bulgaria extremly expensive, example the Hotels, you can stay from 18 euro's a night, double room. The caretakers are also obsessed with euro's, they ask you 4 or 5 times to pay in euro's.

Conclusion:
If you have money to pay this camping, take a ho(s)tel in the centre, same price because you are not almost 10km from the centre.
